DRYER LINT ON FIRE
There are around 17,000 dryer fires a year, most of these due to lint buildup in the exhaust duct. Lint is bits of thread or fluff from cloth, some of which is caught by the removable screen in your clothes dryer. The purpose of the dryer exhaust pipe is to vent the hot air when the dryer is in use. Most fires will start beneath the dryer when the motor overheats. If the dryer vent has accumulated a large quantity of lint, the draft from the dryer can pull the fire up into this duct. Lint is highly flammable. In addition to lint buildup, improper installation of your dryer vent system can also pose a serious danger to you.
Our dryer vent cleaning professional will detect potential hazards such as the presence of a flammable vinyl duct or a duct run that is improperly routed or a bird’s nest blocking airflow. As well as cleaning the lint filter after each load of clothes, protect your family by having your dryer vent system cleaned and inspected by our dryer vent cleaning specialist. A plastic, flexible duct is more likely to trap lint than ducting without ridges. Airflow can also be reduced by kinks or crushing of the duct. Most manufacturers specify the use of rigid or flexible metal duct to provide a minimum restriction of airflow.
DRYING CLOTHES TAKES FOREVER
If your dryer isn’t drying your clothes like it used to, you may not need a new dryer. A dryer vent clogged with lint reduces airflow so it doesn’t dry as efficiently and takes more energy (and money) to dry your clothes. Long vent ducts are especially susceptible to lint buildup. You can suspect lint buildup if your clothing is still damp at the end of a normal cycle.
HOW WE CLEAN A DRYER DUCT
Our knowledgeable technician will normally unhook the dryer and pull it out , using proper precaution not to scratch the dryer. We will then clean up all the lint behind the dryer to avoid that fire hazard. Then we will address the duct itself.. We use a variety of tools for a full deep cleaning. We will brush it out, snake it out, blow it out and high-power vacuum it out. We then go to the exit point of the duct and repeat the same process. A specialized air flow meter will be used to measure the airflow before and after our cleaning to ensure increased air flow. When the process is complete we will put the machine back and hook everything up. Our technicians have a long tradition of friendly, professional service. We are happy to take the time to answer your questions.
